Further tests, with some real comments.
Wherein Robert starts to think about what has
to be done, while being distracted by Rumblings of Revolution.
The thought occurred to me that I could try
using some of the “Magic” keys available through the juicy goodness
of Macintosh to get proper typographic markup into these entries. It‘s
really anyones guess whether it will work, and to what extent it will break on
MSIE, but anything‘s worth trying once. Twice if it tastes
good.Well. That didn’t work
fantastically well, although it did kind of work. Thinking is in progress. I
would be curious to see if I would be able to add blockquotes and so forth, as
it’s my preferred method of quoting something else. Oh
well.Some goodies that I’ve
found that are worth following up on are this very nifty Javascript
trick over at Tim
Bray’s site, and this list
of tips extracted from the Pragmatic Programmer
book . Much to think
on.The falling cards from
Microsoft’s announcement that they are going to kill the web browser are
starting to take shape. Tim Bray describes a strategy,
or at least a possible beginning of one, similar to the Wasp project a few years
ago. His call for a nifty logo to use in relation to that strategy has paid off
– the folk at Giant Fighting Robots have come up with something
fairly neat. (I’m still not keen on what’s happening to my
typographic characters. That nice em-dash back there transmuted into something
inappropriate. Blah.)Anyway, I
might stop writing and start thinking. Once I get markup, layout, and design
right, I can fix up the hidden-email-address problem, add hooks to the ICBM server service, and maybe even have
time to buy a toy
.
