Roman Cosmetics Pot


Via Cronaca , news about the discovery of a tin jar containing cosmetics - from 50 AD

This was also mentioned over at Mirabilis. The wonderful thing about this discovery is that when the jar was opened, the finger-smears of the last user through the contained goo are still present. I cannot think of any other archaelogical discovery that so vividly links an ordinary person 2000 years ago with ordinary people today. Simply wonderful.
